At Good News there are people just like you. We come from all walks of life — every age group, life-long Chicagoans and recent transplants. Our church is filled with teachers, electricians, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, janitors, homemakers, and more. What draws us together is a sense of family. At Good News we believe that we are a place for someone just like YOU!

Details coming soon.

Carey Wiese
[associate pastor]

Carey joined the pastoral staff at Good News in 2012. He started as a pastoral intern before shifting to outreach pastor, and then into his current role. He is originally from Iowa.

While attending college in Wisconsin, the Lord began to give him a burden for those facing socio-economic distress and spiritual lostness. This led him to pursue a Master’s in social work from the University of Michigan. Carey also completed the Masters of Divinity program at Trinity University.

While pursuing his graduate studies in Michigan, he met and eventually married Lisa. They have two daughters, Zoe and Hazel. Carey loves serving with this church family to share Christ’s message and compassion.

Santia is one of the original founding members at our church. She joined the church staff more than two decades ago after a successful career in marketing. She manages most of the administrative functions at the church, including graphic design, production of materials, managing of records, among other duties.

Jeanette dedicated a large portion of her career to education, including service as principal of a local Christian school. Today she works on our team to ensure everyone’s information is accurate & up-to-date, as well as assisting in many clerical projects.

Rachel has been involved with ministry for most of her life. A pastor’s daughter, she was part of her father’s ministries throughout her life. A self-taught musician, she currently leads our worship team & kids program on Sundays and our Awana kids program on Monday nights.

Elders & Deacons

We are an elder-led church, which means we have a team of men who have met the qualifications of Scripture found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. They work alongside our pastors to guide the spiritual welfare of the church through teaching, preaching and governance.

Our current Elder team includes: Orlando Magana (chairman), Ben Toro, Benny Ortiz, Pastor Carey Wiese.

We also have a team of deacons who meet the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13, and focus on overseeing the physical operations of the church and practical care of people who attend the church.

Our current Deacon team includes: Rick Lexby, Lillian Amaya, Keith Rundquist.
